Volunteer Coach Amy Liu

Amy was first introduced to rowing when she joined State College Area Rowing (SCAR) in high school. Discovering a passion in the sport, she intended to stay involved with rowing for the years to come. She developed PFPS in both of her knees during her winter conditioning senior season, significantly hindering her spring progression and making a competitive college rowing career impractical. She turned her attention to competitive lifting and exercise science, obtaining her ACSM Personal Training certification, and using her knowledge to benefit high school rowers.

Starting in Fall 2024, Amy started with Penn State Crew as a volunteer assistant coach, while studying Biochemistry and Nutritional Sciences at Penn State as an undergraduate. She obtained her level 1 USRowing coaching certification and is continuing to develop her coaching style. She is using her knowledge in both exercise and nutrition, as well as her experience as a rower, to become more involved in the rowing community and bring different expertise to the Penn State rowing team.
